A new report from the nonpartisan watchdog Empower Oversight indicates the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is penning a rule to ban the direct sales of firearms between private individuals. The group you may remember has been synonymous with a whistleblower from Hunter Biden’s IRS case.
Now they claim ATF whistleblowers have tipped them off to a 1,300-page document the agency is working on to require background checks for any and all firearm sales. Essentially, if enacted, there would be no more citizen-to-citizen deals. To validate this report, they have filed a records request with the Department of Justice about the rule.
Empower Oversight President Tristan Leavitt contends that if the whistleblower is correct, this would “violate the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution,” as well as “circumvent the separation of powers in the Constitution.” They also argue that those who sell arms occasionally would then be gun dealers under the ATF guidelines and would need a license to sell.
Per the Firearms Owners Protection Act of 1986, Congress ruled that people who were “engaged in the business” of making a living off gun sales “shall not include a person who makes occasional sales, exchanges, or purchases of firearms for the enhancement of a personal collection or for a hobby.” While Leavitt contends the courts would likely strike down the rule, it could easily start an uprising in the Democrats during an election year.
As it stands, Morning Consult and Politico’s 2022 poll showed 81% of voters are in favor of gun control measures, including background checks at gun shows and private transfers. Unsurprisingly, the pro-checks vote the same back with 77% of Democrats wanting checks, compared to just 58% of Republicans.
Shockingly though, most Americans are opposed to any new firearms bans, with only 27% wanting any new restrictions. With short-barreled rifles being restricted, the ATF is currently in court litigation as gun rights groups stand up against this $200 unneeded cost. Attempting to force people to register an arm brace on their pistol is incredibly ignorant. This is yet another cash grab from an already overzealous and unneeded agency.
With all these firearms transactions on the ATF transactions registry, the Biden regime looks to be actively trying to create a firearms ownership registry. This same style of registry has predated mass firearms confiscation in various nations across the globe. It is only the precursor towards communism or a dictatorship, and Biden is the exact kind of President who would take us there.
Just getting to the point where someone thought this was a good idea is something the American people have been against since our founding fathers wrote The Constitution. The Second Amendment is there to keep the American government “honest.” To keep it working for us and not for a singular entity. While America certainly has gone that way under Biden, it got a major jump during the Obama years. Thankfully, Trump was able to pull it up during the break between Barack and his little puppet.
Dredging the voter base for support less than a year away from them entering the polls is a slimy and low move. While we expect nothing less from the Democratic party, it’s essentially vote begging at its worst. The only thing lower is using a school shooting to push an agenda, which the Biden regime does at every turn, no matter how many times they need to lie or hide the truth with misdirection.
It isn’t this hard to understand, yet the Democratic party doesn’t understand it. As Americans, we have the inalienable right to protect ourselves. These rights are all dependent on one another. The right to free speech prevents the government from censoring your views or beliefs. As communication is essential, that’s why it’s first.
Protecting that from government overreach is the Second Amendment, which grants us the right to bear arms. This is a right that shall not be infringed upon, and it protects us from the government thinking they have more power than what we give them. At every turn, they keep trying to take more, and we have no more we need to give. If anything, they need to give some back at this damn point.
