Ever since he won the 2016 Presidential election, the liberal left has gone after Donald Trump from all sides.
From claiming he’s a pedo and calling him racist before the election. Then attacking anything he wanted to get done as President once he was sworn in. If he said the sky was blue, they insisted it was green. Since he announced his candidacy for the 2024 election, they have gone after him in every court they could find.
In NY, Attorney General Letitia James filed suit in September 2022 that Trump overinflated the value of his property to get better terms on real estate. In return, she wants him to pay a $370 million penalty, as well as barring him from doing real-estate business for life. On January 12th, CNN political commentator Jonah Goldberg was forced to admit, “I think this whole trial, prosecution was a mistake. I think it’s very political. Someone campaigned on an election to do this. It’s an elected judge. It was part of sort of the party machinery.”
Just the fact that someone campaigned on the idea of going after a former President should be enough to know that this judge already has their mind made up before trying the case. This, of course, would make getting a fair and impartial trial impossible, yet the left chose to ignore that and push on. As Goldberg continued, he explained why this was a mistake in his mind.
“The psychology of this is really brutal for him in the sense that he takes great pride in his business and his business empire. On the flip side, the politics of it — being on trial — is really good for him. He doesn’t have to be there. He’s there on purpose. And it’s an excuse not to be out on the campaign trail. It’s an excuse not to do debates and all that kind of stuff, and it has been working for him.”
As Goldberg admitted (in so many words), this is a psychological trick being played by the liberal left to mess with Trump. Instead of falling for it, he turned around and used these cases to his advantage.
However, the insistence that he is using these cases as an excuse not to be on the campaign trail is laughable at best. He’s out campaigning as needed, but these cases make campaigning incredibly difficult. The debates he has chosen to stay out of through his own free will, not because of some liberal media circus.
I can’t wait to see what NY pisses away the taxpayer money on next. Maybe underwater basket weaving for illegals?
